The shortened 80-day session has pushed lawmakers' self-imposed “funnel” deadline up to Feb. 12. The fate of dozens of bills hang in the balance as lawmakers continue to do committee work into the night this week and next week, pushing to meet the first funnel deadline.

Snow storms delay jobs bill, tax measures
Before the storm, the Senate had hoped to reach an agreement on an $80 billion “jobs” package this week. The “jobs” bill is likely to include an extension of the soy-biodiesel tax credit. Republicans are also asking for a timetable to address the estate tax.

GM joins Ford and Chrysler in formalizing its support for B20, providing a big boost to the biodiesel industry. These three companies produce more than 80 percent of the diesel light vehicles sold in North America.

Average price of Minnesota B5 lower than Iowa diesel
The Iowa Renewable Fuels Association (IRFA) this week released a comparative analysis of Minnesota and Iowa retail diesel prices to dispel the myth that the proposed B5 Fuel Quality Standard in the Iowa Legislature will increase diesel prices in Iowa.
