Agronomic tip of the week

Are Iowa’s SDS problems in 2009 a reflection of a growing SCN problem? Widespread reports of soybean sudden death syndrome occurring throughout Iowa in 2009 are alarming. But did you know that soybean cyst nematode (SCN) can cause SDS symptoms to occur earlier in the season and become more severe, leading to greater yield loss?  Greg Tylka, ISU nematologist, offers advice.

Congressman King visits ISA

Congressman Steve King had business in central Iowa on Monday, Oct. 5, so he stopped in Ankeny to meet with ISA staff and visit the new building.  After a tour, he sat down with a few members of staff, and ISA President Delbert Christensen and President-elect Randy Van Kooten, to discuss a number of issues.

ISA grows District Advisory Councils across Iowa

ISA directors and staff members together have developed a new process of communication with members in all parts of the state. District Advisory Councils are now organized in each of Iowa’s nine crop districts.
