ASA/DUPONT YOUNG LEADER PROGRAM ANNOUNCES IOWA WINNER

URBANDALE, Iowa - The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) would like to congratulate the winners of the ASA/DuPont Young Leader Program. Crystal and Jeremiah Jauer of Hinton were recently named the winners for the state of Iowa. The Jauers, along with Crystal’s father and uncle, operate a soybean and corn farm in Plymouth and Woodbury counties. They are also involved in their family’s black angus cattle operation “Jauer Dependable Genetics” and an agribusiness company “Bollmeyer Inc.,” where customers are provided with many services such as seed, crop insurance, agronomic advice, soil sampling and custom agriculture work.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to learn and participate in this leadership conference and to be involved in this ever-changing agricultural world,” says Crystal.

The American Soybean Association and Pioneer Hi-Bred Intl., Inc., a subsidiary of DuPont, are partners in developing and implementing the Young Leader Program. The Young Leader Program is recognized throughout the soybean industry for its longstanding tradition of identifying and cultivating leaders throughout agriculture. The Young Leader candidates are chosen by each state soybean association.

The Young Leader Program began in 1984 as a way to identify and cultivate up and coming leaders of the future. A unique feature of the program is that spouses or significant others are included in all aspects of the Young Leader training. As a result, the training takes into consideration farming as a family business and the training can be applied to any leadership endeavors; even business activities outside the farm.

The Iowa Soybean Association develops policies and programs that help farmers expand profit opportunities while promoting environmentally sensitive production using the soybean checkoff and other resources. The Association is governed by an elected volunteer board of 21 farmers.
