URBANDALE,
Iowa - The Freemont and Page County Soybean Producers and the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) invite all soybean producers to attend the counties’ annual meeting and “All in a Day’s Work” educational event at the Elks Lodge in Shenandoah on March 10, beginning 6:30 p.m. with a dinner catered by Emmy’s Home Cooking.
The speaker for the evening will be Chuck Offenburger, whose presentation will be “The Revolution Going on in our Bedrock Industry, and Why That’s Good News for Us All.”
ISA director John Schlorholtz from Percival encourages nonmembers to join and members to get involved by attending this event. “Chuck Offenburger should be an excellent speaker and we hope he will help to draw a crowd,” Schlorholtz says. “But more important, we need soybean growers to understand that membership matters, at all levels, from local to state to national. The soybean checkoff is used to support some of ISA’s activities, but there are many efforts of ISA that need to be funded by noncheckoff dollars. That’s what membership dues are used for.
“ISA is working hard in many areas like developing renewable fuels,” he continues. “Now is not the time to sit back and rest on our laurels, just because the soybean price is high.”
The event is free of charge for any current ISA member and his/her spouse. Producers who are not members but would like to attend will also be welcome, but the cost is $10 per person.
