Joe is responsible for the strategy and direction of the research program within ISA's Research Center for Farming Innovation as the Director of Research. In this role, he works with a dedicated and talented team to turn questions and challenges that farmers pose into research that will be used to develop technical insights that can be applied to farms across Iowa. The research program is focused on supporting the profitability, productivity and sustainability goals of all Iowa farmers.

Joe grew up on a hog and grain farm near Center Point, IA before completing a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science at Mount Mercy College and a Master's of Science in Crop Production and Physiology at Iowa State University. After college, he spent 20 years within the seed industry in a variety of roles involving research and manufacturing prior to joining ISA.
