Jan. 20 webinar highlights soy economics
January 12, 2022 | Brock Johnston
In a few short months, Iowa soybean farmers will head to the fields to begin planting the 2022 soybean crop.
But what kind of prices can they expect? Will the demand for renewable diesel and biodiesel impact soybean prices this year?
The Iowa Soybean Association’s webinar on Jan. 20 will bring together a panel of industry experts for an interactive discussion about farm economics in 2022.
Join Mac Marshall, vice president of market intelligence at the United Soybean Board, Scott Gerlt, economist at the American Soybean Association and Grant Kimberley, ISA senior director of market development for an informative discussion about prices and opportunities with growers.
“Keeping an informed view of current and future market conditions is key to the success of Iowa’s 38,000 soybean growers,” says Robb Ewoldt, ISA president and farmer near Davenport.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is forecasting an increase in soybean acres in 2022. What impact will this news have on soybean prices? Will input prices stay at higher levels? How might the supply chain impact supply and demand? How can farmers impact the decisions and implementation of infrastructure projects?
“A new year brings new opportunities, but also presents questions and challenges,” says Ewoldt. “From analyzing the latest reports, to marketing beans, oil and meal, equipping producers with these insights are critical as we inch closer to the growing season.”
The Jan. 20 Zoom event is powered by the Iowa Soybean Association through the soy checkoff. Ewoldt invites active farmers or those interested in agriculture to register.
“Opportunities with industry experts highlight farmer checkoff dollars in action and can assist in making operation decisions,” says Ewoldt.
The virtual event will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Central.
