Soybean Farmers Applaud Senate Passage of Pesticide Labeling Legislation
March 27, 2025 | Brock Johnston
Ankeny, Iowa – The Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) commends the Iowa Senate for the successful passage of Senate File 394. The bill is a crucial step toward ensuring farmers have access to the tools they need, providing certainty across the food supply chain and reinforces science-based regulation, allowing Iowa farmers to stay competitive.
Brent Swart, president of the Iowa Soybean Association (ISA) and soybean farmer from Spencer, issued the following statement:
“During these very uncertain times for agriculture, farmers are readying to head to the fields to plant a new crop. With market prices already well below breakeven for soybean farmers, farmers can use a bit of assurance that products needed to grow a crop to the benefit of soil, water and ultimately, the consumer, remain available.
“This legislation provides certainty across the food supply chain and reinforces science-based regulation, allowing Iowa farmers to stay competitive. Iowa farmers need access to the tools that protect their crops and keep operations efficient and food prices low. SF 394 is a critical measure supporting our agriculture industry and strengthening our food system and we support its swift passage in the House.”
