July 18, 2024 | Lydia Zerby

More than 147,000 food and health-minded Iowans discovered the latest issue of Fresh Pickings magazine in their mailboxes, email inboxes and on social media this week.

The Iowa Food & Family Project’s seasonal print publication makes modern agriculture accessible, interesting and relevant to consumers statewide through personable editorial and stunning photography.

Meet two neighbors with a love of conservation and farming and explore the wonderful world of dairy and its nutritional benefits. You’re invited to discover reinvented spaces turned she sheds, and learn how a high school student is taking the Midwest by “storm” with his love for weather forecasting and storm chasing. We’ll also introduce you to a unique agrihood that promotes connectivity with neighbors and the surrounding land.

Plus, learn how Cargill is making the farm-to-consumer connection with its variety of initiatives and products. We’ll dive into what makes an eastern Iowa theme park special and why you should add it to your summer bucket list. Readers will also find recipes to make with kids, along with tips on encouraging young people to enjoy the process and art of cooking.

Fresh Pickings magazine, published quarterly, is available at no cost at Iowa-based Earl May Garden Centers and distributed at Iowa FFP events (while supplies last) as well as by partners and select organizations featured in the issue. Readers can also view the publication online and request a mailed subscription at freshpickingsmagazine.com.
